Surveillance and biological monitoring

Since 2021 we have supported surveillance and biological monitoring projects. The awesome work of the community ecoguards in the protected area “La Frailescana” and Selva El Ocote Biosphere Reserve is very important. They report environmental illegal activities, forest fires, and at the same time provide environmental education in the communities they visit. 25 new community ecoguards, 4 community surveillance committees certified by PROFEPA (is the agency in charge of the care and preservation of the environment throughout the country, as well as the inspection and surveillance of compliance with environmental protection laws).
